“I don’t need a ceremony or a ring or a license.” He turns back around, eyes lit with emotion. “You know there’s already a vow between us that goes beyond all of that, and for you to be with anyone else would be adultery of the soul.”
“You don’t have to worry about losing me. You can’t lose me. My soul is lodged that deeply in yours. I’m completely yours.”
"The hell we aren't together. Even when we're apart, we're together."I am such a hypocrite bc the first half of this Kai's in her pocket going in on Rhys for his control issues and I was lapping it up like
“Sometimes our best intentions come with our worst decisions.”
“There’s no happiness without you anymore. This didn’t have to happen.”
“Every wall I’d ever raised, every defense I had, you got past them all…You went deeper than anyone ever had. You peeled away every layer of skin, sunk through the flesh, and I felt you right next to my bones. For the first time in my life I felt fully…known.”
“She blurs everything. Erases every line I’ve drawn in the sand. Forces me to rethink the boundaries of right, wrong, acceptable, never would, and couldn’t ever. She’s my absolute.”
“She promised me that you would make mistakes, and that the real test would be to love you through them. It’s a test you already passed when you loved me through mine.”
“He is mine and I am his. Our darkest secrets, shared. Our deepest places, reached. We are completely known. Completely loved down to our very souls.”

Down To My Soul is one of those stories that is just difficult to review. Simply because I don't think there are enough words to properly convey my feelings for this book. Simply put, I freaking " LIVE" Rhys and Kai.
No book should give you butterflies or keep a smile on your face while you're reading it. No book should pull you in so effortlessly that you can't wait to devour it but you still want to savor every minute of it because you just do not want it to end. Certainly, no book should be so palpable with emotions, so romantic, sexy, and yet frustratingly real that you can't help but fall in love with the characters and the writing.
"Our love— an ultrasonic boom, out of frequency for everyone but the two of us."
Kennedy Ryan nailed this story. With how things ended in My Soul To Keep , I knew there were quite a few issues that Rhys and Kai had to work on within themselves and with each other. Rhyson was the same strong, stubborn, and yet loving person he always was but his character grew in so many ways during this story. I admired Kai's resilience, her independence, and even though her stubbornness frustrated me at times, she allowed herself to show more vulnerablity with Rhys. I honestly loved how their characters developed. They changed, not necessarily for each other, but to be able to love each other completely, flaws and all.
Their romance was a give and take, tense moments, and arguments, but it was pure love and intensity. I adored their friendship and banter too. I was completely invested in the journey of it all. Kennedy wrote this story with such passion and grace. This was the kind of love story that easily had me falling back in love with these characters. I loved that the angst and drama did not hinder the story but only propelled forward. Take note: this is how you write new adult.
I think this series ended perfectly but I admit I am a greedy reader. I want to be able to see what's in their future, I just want more of them. I definitely recommend this series. This was a such an amazing book and I'm excited to read more from Kennedy Ryan.
